Chrystal Assee
PhD Student | Relational Trauma & Embodiment

I work with the impact of disconnection in relationships—how it is felt in the body, and how reconnection becomes possible. My work is grounded in a central question: What happens in the body when connection is lost—and what makes it possible to return?I am currently completing a PhD in Family Science, following a master’s thesis on the lived experience of connectedness in MDMA use outside clinical settings. My approach draws from phenomenology and embodiment theory, with a focus on how relational experiences are felt, organized, and protected in the body.In my clinical work, I support individuals and couples navigating disconnection, betrayal, and the loss of intimacy. My approach integrates embodied awareness and relational attunement, with space for deeper processes when needed. I am a registered social worker, yoga therapist, and meditation teacher.I understand disconnection not as failure, but as a protective response. Healing involves learning how the body holds these experiences—and how reconnection can emerge through presence, safety, and meaning.

Reconnection is possible—even after disconnection.
