Research & Academic Background
As a mental health professional and interdisciplinary researcher, Chrystal brings a unique perspective to her work by integrating embodiment theory, psychology, and relational studies. She is currently doing her PhD in Family Science at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (Fall 2025), where she will explore how the trauma of infidelity is experienced and expressed through the body, and how these insights can inform new approaches to healing within couples.

Her doctoral research builds on her Master’s thesis in Social Work, which investigated the subjective experience of connectedness through MDMA use in natural (non-clinical) settings. This qualitative research examined how connection to self, others, and the world is revealed and lived through the body during altered states. The data was analyzed through a lens of embodiment, drawing on the work of Merleau-Ponty, Fuchs, and Massumi, to explore how connection and disconnection can be understood as forms of bodily wisdom — not simply symptoms to be fixed, but meaningful responses to our relational environments.

This work informs the heart Chrystal's practice today: helping individuals and couples navigate protection, repair, and intimacy through a deep awareness of the body’s lived experience.
