About
Yoga Therapy is an evidence based therapy and is supported by an increasing body of research evidence, which contributes to the growing understanding and acceptance of its value as a therapeutic discipline.
Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and wellbeing through the application of specific yoga tools. Yoga therapy requires the client to become actively involved in management of their health as part of the process. Yoga therapy takes a holistic view including all aspects of the body (muscular and skeletal); breath; mind; intellect; and emotions and their mutual interaction.
The full practices of yoga traditionally include, asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breath), meditation, mantra, ritual, and a disciplined lifestyle. Yoga therapy is the appropriate application of elements of these teachings and practices in a therapeutic context that will increase self-awareness and engage the client/student’s energy in the direction of desired goals.
